Self-Defense for Hawaii’s Youth

A proud partner with the Boys And Girls Club of Hawaii & Big Brothers Big Sisters

Empowering Hawaii’s youth to build the strength, skills, and resilience to succeed in school and life.

The Challenge

A study done by the Hawaii State Department of Education and featured in Hawaii News found that in the past 12 months:

  • Nearly 20 % of high school students and 40% of middle school students experience bullying on campus

  • Close to 10% of students did not go to school because they did not feel safe going to and from school

  • 20% of students experienced physical dating violence

  • 10% of high school students attempted suicide

Our Organization

Our mission is to help the kids of Hawaii feel safe and equipped to handle the challenges of bullying that frequently occur in schools.

We partner with the Caverinha Jiu-jitsu Family Academy (CJJF) and other Jiu-jitsu schools around the island to provide Hawaii youth (ages 6-18) basic self defense skills through the art of Brazillian Jiu-jitsu, social-emotional learning, and mentorship. Our goal is to equip students with the skills to live with strength and confidence on the mat, in school, and throughout their lives.

CJJF is a premier Brazilian jiu-jitsu school on the island with a growing number of affiliated academies around the world. CJJF has been training students for the past 25 years and has equipped tens of thousands of students to take control of their lives and live from a place of strength and confidence.

How you can make an impact.

We are looking for people to sponsor students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Your donation will give kids who would not otherwise be able to participate access to resilience, confidence-building, and self-defense skills.

Any amount makes a difference. All donations are tax deductible.
